Class Description

Learn the secrets of some of the most traditional Portuguese recipes

When it comes to the great cuisines of Europe, most of us zero in on the big three: France, Spain and Italy, however Portugal has a rich gastronomic tradition and its contribution to the culinary world has been immense. Famous for seafood and Mediterranean influence, it’s the colonial past that has introduced a wide variety of spices including piri piri – African bird’s eye chili pepper, black pepper, cinnamon, vanilla and saffron. Olive oil is one of the bases for cooking and flavouring food as is garlic and herbs such as bay and parsley are widely used.

Skills you will Learn:

In this class, chef will teach you the secrets of the most traditional Portuguese recipes. Which you can eat during the class & takeaway fresh cooking inspiration.

Examples of what you might cook:

  • Caldo Verde – A warming soup or sopa of Kale potatoes and chorizo
  • Pataniscas Salt cod fritters, a true taste of Portugal
  • Portuguese dark pork loin in garlic sauce or with a piri piri sauce – Porco preto com molho de alho

What’s included:

  • Glass of fizz, beer or soft drink on arrival. We have a great bar with some amazing wines, beers, a range of spirits, soft drinks and cocktails to enjoy – additional beverages can be purchased using cash or card.
  • All ingredients provided, you will enjoy eating the food you create in the dining room at the end of the class, take home any leftovers, bring containers or use our simple ones.
  • Copies of the recipes will be emailed to you after the class.
