You’ll learn to prepare maki sushi—rice and fillings wrapped in nori—along with uramaki, where the rice sits on the outside. You’ll also make cone-shaped temaki hand rolls and onigiri, traditional Japanese rice balls with a tasty filling.
Suitable for all cooking abilities, the class combines chef demonstrations with plenty of hands-on cooking. This extended class includes time to sit down and enjoy your dishes in our dining area. You’ll also have plenty to take home and the confidence to make them again.

Chef
Midori’s love of Asian home cooking began in her grandmother Reiko’s kitchen in Otaru, where she watched her family prepare gyoza and vegetables in generous batches during Hokkaidō’s harsh winters. This cherished family tradition inspired a lifelong love of cooking and sharing food. Today, she brings that warmth to her Japanese, Korean and sushi classes in Manchester, sharing much-loved recipes and techniques that help guests discover new flavours and build confidence in their own kitchens.
