Make a Gingerbread House – Edible Art!

Make a Gingerbread House – Edible Art!

Well here’s an interesting fact! Apparently Gingerbread Houses date back to the 1800’s and were inspired by the Hansel and Gretel fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm.

As the name suggests, they are made from delicious gingerbread which is baked in separate pieces and then constructed into a house by using royal icing to represent snow. The finished houses are embellished with a variety of edible decorations to create an original work of art, which unlike most works of art, can be eaten!

We thought it sounded like a great idea for a family friendly cooking class to create a unique Christmas decoration. Escape from the hustle and bustle of hot shops and long queues for a fun afternoon cooking together. The tickets are sold in pairs, an adult with a child, so it could be Dad and Daughter, Grandma and Grandson or any other lovely combination.

Our Food Sorcery kitchen is welcoming and cosy, so whatever the weather is doing outside in Didsbury, we will be lovely and warm inside. At £50 per pair, with refreshments included, it’s a lovely way to get into the Christmas spirit. You will of course get to take your creation home – and if you do ‘accidently’ take a nibble out of it on the way home, just explain to everyone that you’re having an extension built!

Sunday 18th December 2.00pm to 4.30pm. To book, visit our website or contact Mark on 0161 706 0505.
