Description
Sourdough bread has been around for hundreds of years. Widely favoured amongst many due to its ability to digest easier within the body and for its tangy flavour and wholesome appearance.
Whilst the supermarkets have brought sourdough to our shelves, the amount of care and attention needed is sometimes lost in the mass production of sourdough which takes great care and most of all time.
Matt has been baking and teaching for many years and runs a Most bakery in Altrincham, he is full of technical know how about how to achieve great sourdough results.
In this easy class for sourdough beginners, we teach you:
- How to make a starter from the beginning, how to take care of it and feed and nurture it using a variety of readily available ingredients.
- You will also be shown how to shape the dough to achieve the best looking loaves and simple cutting effects to make those enviable patterns so that your bread has that professional appearance.
- We will also be discussing and using many different types of grain and show you how easy it is to make a super fast version of sourdough for an every day supply of better bread.

Description
Japanese Cuisine is experiencing ever increasing popularity in the UK and sushi has became one of the world’s most known dishes.
You will learn how to make popular types of sushi such as makizushi – rice and filling wrapped in nori, uramaki – rice is on the outside such as California rolls, and sashimi – raw fish. All ingredients are bought locally.
The most common type of Gyoza in Japan is Yaki-Gyoza. This style of Gyoza is very similar to the Chinese ‘potsticker’ dumplings. The prepared dumplings are placed in a pan and fried for a short time, water is then added to the pan and a lid placed on top, to steam the dumplings. When the steaming process is complete, the lid of the pan is removed and the Gyoza are left to continue to crisp.
Combination of hands-on cooking and demonstration. Eat as you cook and takeaway your creations. You will leave with tips and tricks to cook more delicious dishes at home.
Example dishes: For allergies & dietaries let us know in the booking notes.
- Types of Sushi (learn about all different types of sushi and how to make them).
- Making Sushi rice (step-by-step demo of sushi rice preparation)
- Making Sushi Rolls (hands on sushi making workshop)
- Gyozas (learn how to make traditional Japanese filled dumplings) For GF participants: you’ll join the folding process, then eat an alternative version
- Dipping Sauce (what else can you use to dip your gyozas in, apart from soy sauce?)
What’s included:
- A Complimentary drink on arrival. Additional beverages can be purchased at the bar.
- All ingredients provided, you will eat as you cook and take home the additional dishes, bring containers or use our simple ones.
- Copies of the recipes will be emailed to you after the class.
- The added bonus is the washing up is all done for you!
