Fine Dining in a Box – Review

Fine Dining in a Box from @foodsorcery . As a celebration of being unfurloughed and turning the grad old age of 42, this week I pushed the boat out for something special; King Oyster mushrooms with a lime shallot butter and pancetta crumb, followed by fillet steak with Bearnaise sauce, pont neuf potatoes and seasonal greens, with brownie & sticky toffee sauce to finish. As a disclaimer I think I ought to first say that the amount of food you get is enormous for the £60 price tag. We actually opted to spread it over x2 nights, hence you will need to imagine everything twice the size! For me the king oyster mushroom stems were a revelation, reminiscent of scallops, I’m definitely trying those again. Fillet steak amazing as expected. Pont neuf tatties super duper too, and the brownies also delectable!
Food Sorcery is in normal times a cooking school. During lockdown they have been doing online classes and bulk-buy gourmet ready meals as well as this fine dining. Delivery is free in Didsbury or collect from their school near Parrswood. The instructions are clear and simple and what was extra nice was that the full recipe is included so you can try it in full for it yourself on another occasion. It was a fantastic way to have (x2) restaurant quality meals at home and although it’s not cheap, in comparison to the cost of two (or in our case four) 3 course meals at a restaurant it’s much better value!
I do feel I ought to apologise to the chef & all at Food Sorcery for chopping the wonderful giant fillet steak in half #sacrilège
