Mug Cake Recipe – Didsbury Arts Festival

Banana and Chocolate Chip Mug Cake

We have created a mug cake recipe to celebrate a collaboration between the Co-Op, Didsbury Arts Festival and the local Food Bank. To Celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight February 22nd – 7th  March

Mug cakes are popular because they’re easy to make and you don’t need an oven!

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons self raising
  • 4 tablespoons caster
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons banana (alternatively use milk, oil or water)
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped chocolate

Method

  1. In a mug mix the flour and sugar, then add the egg and banana and mix to form a paste. If you don’t want to use banana you can use milk, oil or water.

  2. Stir in your chopped up chocolate.

  3. Microwave on full power for 2 mins

  4. Tip cake out and cut into slices and enjoy!

To Celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight February 22nd – 7th March, local baker Lisa Short from Food Sorcery will be whipping up a master class in the spongiest sponge and perfect baking – not a soggy bottom in sight – all part of celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight.

Didsbury Co-op in collaboration with Didsbury Arts Festival are providing 50 free bags of ingredients for Banana choc chip recipe to local food banks and charities to give as many people as possible the chance to join in. Whoever you are, where ever you are, you’re invited to bake!
